Overview

Mohammad Fazil Bharucha advises clients in a range of various fields of law, including intellectual property, media & entertainment, franchising and licensing, inheritance, not-for-profits, real estate and construction, life sciences, renewable energy and covering contentious and non-contentious matters including litigation. Mr. Bharucha’s professional career has been for over three decades, assisting both domestic and international clients, coordinating teams of lawyers to deliver professional advice and client service that the client is looking for with the ideology of making specialists in the aforementioned fields.


He is the Managing Partner of Bharucha & Co., one of the oldest law firm in Pakistan. He is also serving as a board member and legal advisor for a handful of not-for-profit organizations on a pro bono basis.


He is professionally active in various IP forums both locally and internationally as well as contributing to legal publications. He is often quoted in legal commentaries and business media. He has served as the President of Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA), Pakistan Group during 2010 – 2012 and has been the Delegate of Independent Members of Pakistan and Kazakhstan of International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) during 2011 – 2015. He is the Jurisdictional Council Member of Inter Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) from Pakistan since 2023 and sits on the Board of Global Intellectual Property Alliance (GLIPA) as a representative from Pakistan. He is also a member of Communications Committee of APAA since 2023. He is an active member of the International Trade Mark Association’s (INTA) and has served in different committees such as Unfair Competition, Famous & Well-known Marks, Non-Traditional Marks, Geographical Indications and Parallel Imports. He is currently serving as a Legal Resource from Pakistan for INTA’s “International Oppositions Practice Guide”. He has also contributed to awareness of IP in Pakistan not only to the general public but also in educational institutions and judiciary.


He heads the firm which serves across agriculture, pharmaceutical, life sciences, technology, textile, automobiles, financial, food and beverages, services and various other sectors and is recognized as a leading IP expert in Pakistan by various rating entities such as Legal 500, Chambers & Partners, Managing Intellectual Property (MIP), etc. for the last several years; Chambers & Partners finds him to be “professional at all times” and “very commercial in the way he deals with things”.
