Hameeda Asif is an intellectual Property Attorney with over twenty years of experience, specializing in complex patent prosecution, opposition and litigation, with an emphasis on Biochemistry, Life sciences, Biotechnology, Chemistry and pharmaceutical prosecution and litigation. She also has experience in drafting patents for various local clients, including universities.
She is prominently dedicated to matters pertaining to Patents and Industrial designs, bringing substantial expertise to the table. With a rich background, she excels in providing guidance to national and international clients, seamlessly navigating both legal and technical aspects. Her specialization extends to adeptly managing prosecution and contentious matters, particularly within the intricate domains of life sciences, pharmaceuticals, vaccines, genetic resources, chemicals, and biotechnology.
She has worked on a variety of technologies, including, for example, pharmaceutical formulations, DNA sequencing technology, nucleosides, antibodies, biosimilars and isomers. She has experience in all phases of opposition, including preparing and filing Counter Statements, Affidavits, document submissions and production, technical and legal research, fact and expert discovery, micro screening of opposition cases, attending hearings, post-hearing claim construction and written submissions.
She is currently serving as Standing Committee of Designs of Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA), Standing Committee of BIOTECH and PHARMA Committee of International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) and Standing Committee of Professional development of International Trademark Association (INTA). Previously she was a member of Standing Committees of Patents and Emerging IP Rights of Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA).
Pro bono activities for IP Awareness
In addition to her professional commitments, she actively contributes her insights to various national and international intellectual property forums on a pro-bono basis, showcasing her commitment to staying at the forefront of developments in the field in the local universities and education institutions. Ms. Hameeda is also a member of TISC, and she serves as the pro bono coordinating attorney for the project of WIPO’s Inventor Assistance Program (AIP) collaboration with IPO Pakistan.
