Mohammad Fazil Bharucha is the Managing Partner at Bharucha & Co. and is an advocate of the Sindh High Court. He has been with the firm since 1986.
He focuses on patent, trade mark and copyright prosecution, a range of contentious and non-contentious IP matters, including litigation, intellectual property due diligence and strategic intellectual property portfolio management. He has been involved in patent and trade mark disputes before High Court. He has also acted as a Pakistani Law Expert on IP matters in courts in foreign jurisdictions.
He is professionally active in various IP forums both locally and internationally. He has been involved in the committee for which drafted the curriculum for introduction of IP law courses in colleges and universities across Pakistan and has also been involved in conducting training sessions for judiciary in relation to IP laws.
He is currently serving as a Legal Resource from Pakistan for International Trade Mark Association’s (INTA) “International Oppositions Practice Guide” and has recently been appointed to INTA’s Unfair Competition Committee for the years 2022-2023, previously he was on Parallel Imports and Geographical Indications Committees of INTA. Since 2018, he is a member of standing committee on Commercialization of IP of International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI). He has also served as the “President Pakistan Group of Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA),” from 2010 till 2012 and has been an active member of Patents Committee for many years. He was the Delegate of Independent Members of Pakistan and Kazakhstan of AIPPI from 2011 till 2015.
